This Saturday, November 3, 2007 on Slice of SciFi Show #133, writer/director Bob Gebert, the genius behind the new SF film “11 Minutes Ago” is our special guest. The film makes the statement — “You can only travel to our time in 11 minute increments…don’t fall in love.” It stars Ian Michaels (“Last Day on Earth”), Christina Mauro (“Joshua”) and Evan Lee Dahl (“Criminal Minds”) along with a whole array of fine character actors.
When a time-tumbler, on a mission to capture a sample of present day air, accidentally lands in the middle of a wedding reception, he discovers that he’s been there all night long. Trouble is, he can only stay for 11 minutes at a time.
His search for why he continues to return, despite personal hardships, becomes obvious when one of the lovely bridesmaids says “yes” to a question that he must have asked previously in the evening. This sends him bouncing around for 11-minute segments throughout the course of the two-hour reception. He is determined to find the question to which he already has the answer.
Underneath the main plot brews the exploration of the thematic premise that an individual’s relationship to time dramatically influences all aspects of life. Stories of the ensemble cast of wedding guests become clear in the jumbled non-linear timeline of the time-tumbler.
Conceived, written and directed by our guest, screenwriter and playwright Bob Gebert, “11 Minutes Ago” was shot in one day.
On the rest of the show the cast and crew of fan favorite, but under-watched “Blood Ties” asks for fan help in contacting CITY TV to get a second season of this ingenious show on the Lifetime network. NBC and Fox Television partner-up and create a new online video site designed to be a direct competitor with Google’s YouTube. Director Greg Berlanti has a new job and we tell you what it is – you’re going to love it.
There is a new way you can get first-run and old time movies on DVD and it’s not from a typical video store. Get ready, “Underworld” is returning soon with a prequel and creator Len Wiseman says it will come from the perspective of the Lycans this time.
The SCI FI Channel and USA Network score a huge first-look coups with an aggressive movie purchase deal from Lionsgate — two words Crowe and Bale. The Fox Network plans on taking a short-lived British comedy created from the minds of the whacky team Simon Pegg and Edgar Wright and try to Americanize it. Our last bit of TV news has “Battlestar Galactica” executive producer Ronald D. Moore finally sitting in the director’s chairs for the series’ final season in 2008, or 09, or 10, or whenever.
The future looks bright for Jake Gyllenhaal as he prepares to help colonize the Moon, and “EverQuest” is looking toward finding lost treasure from the pockets of moviegoers in the guise of another game-to-film franchise.
Director Bob Gebert and loads of geeky good news, who could ask for more and we have it all for you on the next Slice of SciFi, Saturday, November 3, 2007.
