“Heroes” Spin-off Shelved For Now

November 1, 2007 By Sam Sloan 3 Comments

NBC has placed its touted “Heroes” spin-off called “Heroes: Origins” on indefinite hold. Network brass are blaming a possibile WGA strike as the reason for their decision, however, some are wondering if the deflating numbers for the once highly popular series’ second season might have led to this.

The “Origins” show was set to be a mid-season replacement for the regular series once it took its scheduled hiatus, but the network has stopped all production at this time, leaving directors and others like Kevin Smith and Eli Roth in a lurch. They were just two of several big-timers involved with this six-episode replacement.

Insiders cautioned that “Heroes: Origins” isn’t completely dead and could very well be revived at a later date, perhaps as soon as next season, according to a report from Variety.

There’s no way it’s got to do with the WGA thing. Until this most recent episode, this season was a click away from going off the DVR schedule. It’s been slow, dull, mind-numbing in its boring sluggishness, and the only hero dead from last season is the black guy!

I agree with Spork. The writing better pick up on this show soon. This show is retreading the same ground they did last season. It’s taking real effort not to turn off the TV on Monday nights. I don’t own a DVR. I watch live 90% of the time and d/l an episode if I miss it.

I was so fed up of watching 40 mins at a time that I decided to save up 3 and watch them all at once. Needless to say, it was pretty boring. I just wish they would let stuff happen instead of constantly building up to events that mostly turn out as no shows. I think that they are afraid that if too much happens too soon they will be left with no new ideas, like what has happened to 24.
