Joss Whedon (“Buffy the Vampire Slayer,” “Serenity”) left the production early on due to “creative differences” with producer Joel Silver. The search for the new Wonder Woman has gone on and on with no visible success of finding someone as charismatic and internationally acceptable as Lynda Carter was to fulfull the role of the Amazon crime fighter and with a looming writer’s strike possibly just two days away, Silver has finally thrown in the towel.
Silver told reporters this past week, while on tour to promote his new film “Fred Claus,” that the new Wonder Woman big screen production has been placed on indefinite hold for all the reasons listed above, as well as the fact that franchise owner (DC Comics) is pushing hard for another superhero film that is starting to get in everybody’s way.
“They’re going to make the Justice League movie, and we’re kind of pausing on Wonder Woman now,” Silver said. “Let them go ahead and do that picture [JLA] first….and, if that comes together, Wonder Woman will be a part of that story. Then we’ll see where we go from there. But we struggled with it for a while. I hope that we can solve it and make it one day.”
As we reported last week actress Teresa Palmer is rumored to be under consideration to play Wonder Woman for the Justice League film.

Probably not a bad thing.
If JLA works out well, then there’ll be a bit more momentum from the studios, and we might get Wonder Woman as a decent spinoff.
(As well as spinoffs for The Flash, The Green Lantern, Aquaman, The Wonder Twins etc etc)

Maybe if JLA succeeds, we’ll get Joss back to do Wonder Woman. Lots of dollar bills can make ‘creative differences’ vanish pretty quickly.

he he i just wrote “…get Joss back to DO Wonder Woman…”

It will be worth it if they can come up with a GOOD Wonder Woman movie when it is all said and done. And yes, it would be great to have Joss back to WORK on the film! 😉

It may be heretic to say this, but I always found Wonder Woman to be boring. Lynda Carter was always too prissy, and Wonder Woman never was exciting or believable. Actually, kind of wooden. It might have been a good concept (I’m sure Joss would have kicked it up a notch), but otherwise, I’m not really holding my breath waiting for this one.

Justice Buddies will flop. WB of course will blame the fans
& all superhero films will stop for a few years because “No one wants to see them”.
Dang right we don’t want to see a poorly cast, Poorly written Super Buddy Movie packed with Teen dream cast.
I don’t get it… I turn on a Porn flick, WWE, or sports even & see people that LOOK like super heroes Yet casting Directors today would have cast Heath Ledger as Conan the Barbarian or Jim Carry as the Terminator.
I hope the Writer’s strike kills JLA before WB wastes money on this turkey.
Now if Joss cant seem to find an Actres to play Wonder Woman then he suffers from Hollywood Idiot syndrome too.
Catherine Bell or Stephanie McMahon both are trained Athletes… Bell in Kickboxing, McMahon in Stunt Entertainment. Gee that only took 3 seconds… Now all I need is a script & crew to make millions.

Sam says
Joss can’t find an actress for Wonder Woman because he is no longer attached to direct the film. He left it quite some time ago over creative differences with the producers of the project.

No one will ever take Linda Carter’s place as Wonder Woman, but thinking about it, I don’t think I would mind seeing Ann Hathaway take the part. Not that the powers that be will see this, but I think she could fit the image with her hair & shape and she’s certainly got that beautiful classic look.
