“Dresden” Marathon on SCI FI

October 21, 2007 By Sam Sloan 7 Comments

dresdenfiles2.jpgI just heard from Zarina of Dresden City and she let me know that the SCI FI Channel will be showing repeats of all of “The Dresden Files.”

Dresden City has also been working hard to get Harry Dresden back on the air with all new episodes, and between our FarPoint Media/Slice of SciFi Drumstick Campaign and their forum and letter writing endeavor, perhaps SCI FI is taking notice of the important fanbase the show still has out there.

The repeat episodes will begin on November 9, 2007. They will continue on November 16 and run into December. We encourage all “The Dresden Files” fans to tune in to watch to bring those viewing numbers up. Also, let SCI FI know how much it is appreciated but DON’T let up on them with the Drumstick and Letter Writing Campaign. Inform them that while this return of reruns is greatly appreciated, we will not be truly satisfied until Ms. Hammer and Mr. Stern bring back Harry with brand new episodes and a new season of programming.

But will they be in HD? Or psuedo HD? I finally got to enjoy Atlantis in real HD but except for Flash Gordon nothing else appears to be played in full screen HD, it’s all letter-boxed and pillared.

I don’t know which is worse, TNT and TBS stretching a 4:3 image to 16:9 for their HD or Sci-Fi not even doing that.

You have to wonder if the head honchos at SciFi will be watching the numbers to gauge if there is sufficient interest in the Dresden Files to warrant bringing it back.

Thanks for spreading the Dresden love, Slice of SciFi!

Finally, some reruns. Now I can turn some more friends and co-workers onto this great show…well, those I haven’t loaned the DVDs to. 🙂

Come on, SciFi Channel, do the right thing. Bring back The Dresden Files!

“The repeat episodes will begin on November 9, 2007. They will continue on November 16 and run into December.”

    Er…not quite.

Sci-Fi IS saying that The Dresden Files will begin on November 9, 2007 at 7:00 p.m. EST (“The Boone Identity”) and will then appear again on November 16, 2007 at the same time (“Hair of the Dog”).

But then there’s a gap of two weeks (November 23 and November 30) where the show isn’t scheduled to be aired. TDF begins again on December 7, and runs on December 14 and December 21. It’s not scheduled to be aired on December 28.

I’m rather uncertain as to whether these reruns will be shown, sadly. I hope they are. I just haven’t seen them on any TV schedule except for Sci-Fi’s.

Hmm. It seems that Sci-fi did not air the Dresden Files episode on the 9th. Horror of horrors! O_O

I suppose a logical recourse now would be to write in and express disappointment about this. Who knows? If enough people are proven to have been LOOKING FORWARD to that episode, it might prove to Sci-Fi that the interest is still there, as I know it still is.

There are resources for doing so available at http://www.dresdencity.org/Renewal/Renewal.html and a lovely renewal-effort forum at http://thebluewhale.darkshadows-resurrected.com/viewforum.php?f=20&sid=306f23371a3f5c916a527160a60999b6. =)
