Johnny Dynamite Moving From Ink to TV

October 2, 2007 By Sam Sloan Leave a Comment

n120192.jpgDirector D.J. Caruso will be taking the “Johnny Dynamite,” graphic novel character created by Max Allan Collins and turning it into a major TV outing, according to Variety.

Dick Wolfe of Wolf Films will produce. He has hired screenwriter J.H. Wyman to adapt a pilot from the comicbook.

Wolf wants this to be a major undertaking so that the television program will be unlike anything ever produced for the small screen. He plans on using the same technology employed to create the “300” look that Zack Snyder got and that Robert Rodriguez achieved for his landmark motion picture “Sin City,” and, at the same time, create a comicbook stylized world in a real world setting. If successfully picked up by a network, Wolfe is bound to change the face of television for some time to come since this will be the first ever TV project shot entirely on a green-screen and soundstage.

“Johnny Dynamite” will be similar but not totally on cue with the graphic novel. The television series will have Dynamite going to Las Vegas to find his girlfriend who has gone missing. Once in the desert city of lights called Sin City, he discovers that Satan himself has taken up residence there and is buying, selling and gambling with human souls. Johnny takes the Devil on while also getting involved with the lives of those he is trying to help.
