For this week’s Slice of SciFi Show #124 we have the very creative director of “Star Wars Revelations” and “Pitching Lucas” — Shane Felux. He joins our crew to talk about his new film project called “Trenches.”
“Trenches” is about a war-torn planet and the soldiers who fight for its control. But when the smoke of battle clears, these enemies find themselves facing a danger beyond their worst imaginings.
In our news segment of the show we take an interesting ride into space as we make reservations for a 3-night stay at the orbiting hotel called “Galactic Suite.” We have lots of Harry Potter news. Harry moves from the big screen to the boards of the stage in the proposed Harry Potter stage musical, Academy Award winner John Williams, who did the score for the first two Potter movies is looking to come on board for the final film in the franchise, “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.” Finally, author Ian Rankin quells the tempest he set off when he said that Potter writer J.K. Rowling would be writing a detective story for her next novel. Can anyone say – “Just kidding?”
We have movie news about a remake of “The Day the Earth Stood Still,” and who is set to star as Klaatu. Jodie Foster gets Linda Hamilton kick-butt buff for her next vigilante-styled film called “The Brave One.”
Because we will be having a live Trivia segment on our next show LIVE from DragonCon, next week, there is no Special Segment for this show.
Loads of TV news on this show. Some great new and classic television shows are being offered on DVD over the next month. We tell you what to save up your shekels for, and we give you some interesting SF news for all those who have the ability to get HD on your TV set. It seems that HD-Net has acquired the rights to show some great sci-fi. Here is just a hint of what is now available and will be coming this fall: “Firefly,” “Torchwood,” “Surface” (which is absolutely awesome in hi-def), as is “Battlestar Galactica,” “Star Trek: Enterprise” and “Stargate: Atlantis.” If you don’t yet have an HD set, it might be time to start thinking seriously about it because SF is so grand in HD, you can’t imagine what is being missed in standard mode.
The SoSF crystal ball looks at the immediate and distant future with two films. John Cusack and Amanda Peet star in “Martian Child,” and the Scorpion King will return with a prequel minus Dewayne “The Rock” Johnson.
Don’t forget to sign-up for our great new “The Film Crew” contest, which premieres with this show and don’t miss our fun and enlightening interview with the ever creative Shane Felux.
Slice of SciFi Show #124 is available online Saturday, September 1, 2007 and on XM-Satellite Radio, as well as KVON-FM on the West Coast.
Be sure to catch our show #125 on September 8th. It comes from the floor of this year’s DragonCon in Atlanta, Georgia with Mike and Brian behind the mic giving out all the news, Doug’s on hand for a LIVE trivia and the boys snag some great guests who will be at the Con.
