Recanting on his vow to never be involved with another Transformers film project after Paramount’s annoucement yesterday about releasing all future DVD’s using the HD format exclusively, director Michael Bay now says he spoke out of turn. “Last night at dinner I was having dinner with three Blu-ray owners, [and] they were pissed about no Transformers [on] Blu-ray, and I drank the Kool-aid hook, line and sinker, stated Bay on his official web-blog. “So at 1:30 in the morning I posted — nothing good ever comes out of early a.m. posts, mind you — I overreacted.”

Sharp Corp. said it has developed the world’s thinnest and lightest LCD TVs with enhanced picture quality, in a pre-emptive move before the release of organic light-emitting diode TVs, known for their thin displays and crisp images. Sharp’s prototype 52-inch liquid-crystal display TV, which is 20 mm thick and weighs 25 kgs, consumes half as much electricity as comparable existing models, the Osaka-based company said today.

Janeane Garofalo is joining the cast of the Fox TV drama “24.” Garofalo will play an FBI systems analyst when “24,” which stars Kiefer Sutherland as a counterterrorism agent, returns in January for its seventh season. Her character, Janis Gold, is assigned to a team investigating a crisis that hits Sutherland’s Jack Bauer and his colleagues, Fox said.
