It’s another exciting week at BrokenSea Audio Productions! In addition to the next chapter of their ongoing saga of “The Planet of the Apes,” they are offering fans a very special treat: a short play by one of the “Masters of Science Fiction,” Norman Spinrad.
Mr. Spinrad has published numerous novels and contributed short stories to an assortment of magazines and literary anthologies over the past 41 years. His teleplay for the classic Star Trek episode, “The Doomsday Machine” is often cited as a fan favorite.
The play debuting today is called “Voice Over” and is a delightful throw-back to vintage sci-fi shows like “The Outer Limits.” Originally commissioned by OMNI magazine for the anniversary of Orson Welles’ “War of the Worlds” broadcast, the work has remained unproduced until now. BrokenSea first heard of the piece about two months ago from Jesse Willis at SFFAudio.com.
Mr. Spinrad was interested in bringing it to life so BrokenSea took it as a real opportunity and were thrilled to be able to work with a living legend. With his kind permission, they fired up the ole’ recording equipment and went to work.
“Voice Over” features the vocal talents of Mark Kalita as Bobby Edwards, Elie Hirschman as The Announcer, Debbie, Caller #3, Electronic Voice, Daffy Duck, JFK, Groucho Marx & Ma Bell
Chip Joel as: Mr. Spock, Porky Pig, Rod Serling, Orson Welles & Bert Parks with Doug Manllen as Caller #2 & The Director.
The production is directed by Mark Kalita with post-production provided by Paul Mannering and a musical score from Scott Shannon.
So there is no reason to delay hearing this play from one of scifi’s classic writers! Step inside the world of audio wonders and enjoy an escape from the ordinary, courtesy of Norman Spinrad and BrokenSea.com.
