Hicks Picks 20

August 15, 2007 By Michael Hickerson Leave a Comment

Kevin McKidd, who starred in HBO’s hit series “Rome” and will be featured in the new NBC SF time-travelling show “Journeyman” due to premiere next month, is being rumored to star in a film dealing with “Thor.” This according to IESB.net. Be sure to listen to our next Slice of SciFi show #122 on Saturday, August 18th to learn more about this new Marvel Comics flick.

Dark Horizon has reported that Neil Gaiman’s “Neverwhere” originally started life as a BBC mini-series, but as production got underway he adapted his own work into a more elaborate and detailed story.

The project will now be heading for a major film treatment and David Slade of “30 Days of Night” will direct, according to MTV News.

The London Times states that a climactic scene in the next James Bond movie will be shot live during the running of a historic horse race in the Italian town of Siena.

Some locations shoots for the 22nd Bond film begins tomorrow at Palio, the place where bareback horse racing has taken place for centuries.

This next Bond film still remains without an official title and is simply being dubbed “Bond 22” for the time being. The film will be directed by Marc Forster (“Stranger Than Fiction”), with Daniel Craig returning as agent 007, James Bond. Dame Judith Dench will also reprise her role of M.

In June we reported the possibility that the Boris Karloff classic film “The Body Snatcher” may be set for a remake. Now, The Hollywood Reporter is stating that RKO will resurrect another landmark Karloff production and change it up a bit to update it for a 21st Century audience. The original 1940’s film “Isle of the Dead” dealt with an island plague outbreak that residents thought occurred as a result of vampirism. This new film will be set in Afghanistan and center on a viral outbreak.

We have been hesitant to even mention this on Slice because, quite simply, we aren’t buying into it. But, several outlets have been reporting that Academy Award winning actor Russell Crowe is considering being the unnamed and undisclosed alien species to do battle against Kirk and Spock in the next Star Trek movie. Like we said, pure rumor at this point and we would take it seriously if it wasn’t for that bridge in Brooklyn we are trying to buy.
