“Fallen” Returns With the Rest of the Story

July 25, 2007 By Sam Sloan 3 Comments

fallen.jpgThe ABC Family Network presentation of “Fallen” caused quite of stir in July 2006 when Part 1 was initially aired. Beginning August 3, 2007 8:00-10:00 p.m. ET/PT and running for three consecutive nights “Fallen” the powerful new SF dramatic miniseries will again offer a glimpse into the world of demons, angelic forces at work and one special angel in particular. This time Part 1, which will be shown again on the 3rd, will be followed up with Part 2 and 3 the following two nights.

The miniseries is based on the books written by Tom Sniegoski. Actor Paul Wesley (“Everwood”) stars as half-human – half angel (termed Nephilim) Aaron Corbett who is on Earth to fulfill a prophecy and meet his destiny, but he doesn’t discover his true nature until his teen years and this revelation turns his world upside down as he begins the search for his purpose with the realm of this new reality.

One day Aaron, a good and typical 18 year-old kid, awakens with the power to stop time and talk to animals. Then he meets up with Zeke, a fallen angel played by veteran actor Tom Skerritt (“Alien,” “Top Gun”) who, in an effort to redeem himself from his fallen state, takes on the task on guiding young Aaron on the path of his prophetic destiny……and, what is that ultimate destiny for Aaron? Nothing short of being ‘The Redeemer,’ a bridge between angels and humans and the choices each make for good or evil.

fallen1.jpgAaron’s drive to fulfill his destiny as ‘The Redeemer’ is thwarted and fought at every turn from Lucifer’s band of fallen ones known as ‘The Powers.’ They seek to destroy Aaron at every opportunity because he is the key to the victory of good over evil, and with each Fallen Angel that Aaron is successful at bringing back into the light of good, an equal amount of evil energy that ‘The Powers’ have to influence humanity is lost.

Bryan Cranston (“Malcolm In The Middle”) returns to the small screen and takes a serious turn as Lucifer. “Fallen” also co-stars Rick Worthy, Fernanda Andrade and Hal Ozsan.

Because of a certain amount of graphic violence this miniseries (which could be picked up by ABC Family for a regular series) is not for all children but is suitable for those 14 and older.

I’m looking forward to seeing more of the Fallen story – as a trilogy this time, I guess – I really liked the first installment last summer, and after that ending, I’m curious to see what will happen to Aaron now that he’s on the run and had to leave his family and everything. All the mythology stuff about the angels and powers and everything was really neat.

Plus, the promos I’ve been seeing during Kyle XY look pretty good – the fighting with the flaming swords and everything.
