Ace is Back – Sort of!

July 20, 2007 By Sam Sloan 5 Comments

This fits the category — Please Tell Me It Isn’t So!

I know some are going to find this story hard to believe. Well, it is Hollywood, the land of no original imagination, so maybe not.

josh_fao.jpgMorgan Creek productions is actually going to make another Ace Ventura movie, as if the horrendously bad script for the second film didn’t teach them a lesson. And, Carrey will not be in it. His part will be played by the very young Josh Flitter, who can be seen in the current film “Lisence to Wed” with Robin Williams and the remake of girl investigator “Nancy Drew.”

Josh will portray the son of Ace Ventura following in his father’s footsteps by becoming a pet detective and tracking a stolen baby panda after his mother is wrongly accused and arrested for the crime.

This film, with a target audience of elementary schoolers, begins shooting on September 17th, just in time for Josh to be back in elementary school.

There may be one redeeming quality existing in this film….it will be helmed by David M. Evans, the guy who directed “The Sandlot” and penned “Radio Flyer,” so he is adept at getting good performances out of kids. The big question is whether or not he has a good script to work from.

    Feldercarb!

    When I saw the title “ACE is back” my first assumption was Sophie Aldred! Now older than David Tennant, it’d be hi-larryous to see her call him Perfessor! 😉

    Hmmm…my first thought was, “Oh, hell no. It’s reproduced. There goes the gene pool.”

    My second thought was, “Courtney Cox has a lot to answer for.” At least, I’m assuming it was her character, because there can’t be all that many women willing to hop in the sack with that psycho, and the kid doesn’t look too much like the gal from the second movie…

    My third thought was, “I just spent three minutes of my life thinking about this, and I will never get those minutes back. Thank you, Hollywood.”

    @kurt:

    I’m with you, I was hoping for Sophie Aldred as well…
