CBS Re-tools Fall Schedule

July 19, 2007 By Sam Sloan Leave a Comment

cbs_logo_110.jpgDue to the unexpected departure of Mandy Patinkin from the series “Criminal Minds,” Variety reports that CBS execs were forced to scramble into action and under the leadership of the network’s entertainment prexy Nina Tassler, have decided to re-tool its fall sked.

“Criminal Minds” will return in the fall minus Patinkin and when pushed by the assembled press as to what caused his departure, Tassler would only state, “I do not mean to sound like I’m avoiding the question,” she said. “I wish I could say more. I just — I don’t feel that this is the forum in which I’d like to have that conversation.”

Critics also spent a good amount of time asking questions about Tassler’s decision to revive “Jericho” and what plans she may have for its future. Her answers were vague and uncommital at best. However, EOnline had this to report — “Now that they still have a network to call home, Stanley and Mimi are going to get engaged on Jericho.” The show was brought back by the cries of millions of fans and 40,000 pounds of peanuts sitting on the doorstep of the CBS LA and NY offices.

One area of interest for SF fans will be CBS’ plans to revamp the Jennifer Love Hewitt hit series “Ghost Whisperer,” by creating a new mythology about the town in which Jennifer and her neighbors live. Also, “Numbers” fans will be thrilled with the news that big screen director Tony Scott will come on board with his magic touch and give that show a whole new look.
