Academy Award winner Forest Whitaker (Best Actor-“Last King of Scotland”) and Academy Award nominated actor Jude Law (Best Actor-“Cold Mountain”) have signed to star together in a tale about repossession — human organ repossession, that is.
Universal Picture’s “The Repossession Mambo” is a futuristic nail-biter from director Miguel Sapochinik, making his directing debut with this Eric Garcia and Garret Lerner script.
The story, set in the near future, revolves around the concept that artificial organs can be bought on credit. However, if the purchaser defaults on the loan the organ will be repossessed costing the new owner more than a bad credit rating.
If the idea sounds a bit familiar it is because of another little film coming out soon that we reported on in February of this year called “Repo! The Genetic Opera,” the adapatation of the stage musical of the same name. “The Repossession Mambo” will premiere just a scalpel’s cut before “Repo.”
