Cris Macht Is Our Guest for Slice of SciFi Show #109

May 13, 2007 By Sam Sloan Leave a Comment

On Wednesday, May 16 we will present Cris Macht, the director of the new Star Wars documentary film “A Force Among Us” as our guest.

This project has been a 16 year labor of love. Written, directed, produced, and funded by their own resources, the brother and sister team of Cristian and Cortney Macht are on a mission to bring “equality” to the Star Wars fans, and to show the rest of the world that the fans are real people like you and me. Not some loser without a job or without a family that is living in the basement of their parents’ house.

In order to make this documentary truly international the Machts went so far as to make extended trips overseas to find Star Wars fans in even remote parts of Norway. “A Force Among Us” was inspired by all the different genres of fandom that celebrate the creation of the Star Wars saga. The people in costume, the collectors, the deep minded, the extremist, the organizers, the leaders, the old generation, the new generation, the angry and the content, and so on and so on. One of the many things this movie is about is equality in fandom.

Besides Cris, we have a full show of news and talk about movies, TV, the future of both and our special segments and more surprises.

In the News:
A “Lost Boys” sequel is heading to DVD. Smoking scenes in movies will now have a direct effect on the MPAA rating of a flick. A new “Dead Like Me” movie is set for DVD release sometime in the future.

Movie Talk:
We take a look at “28 Weeks Later” and ask the question ‘Is it safe to come out now?’ And, is Kevin Costner’s long dry spell at the box office finally coming to an end with the release of his new dark thriller “Mr. Brooks.”

TV Talk:
Good news! There is even more Doctor Who coming to DVD very soon, bringing the USA only 1 classic show behind the UK. And, you will never guess which network out-bid all the others for the rights to show “Spider Man 3” first on television.

Future News:
The casting for the next Hulk film is lining up to be quite impressive. We reveal who else has just signed on to star as the nasty nemesis to Hulk in this Zak Penn vision of the big green guy.

Be sure to join us for Slice of SciFi Show #109, online air-date Wednesday, May 16, 2007 and on XM-Satellite Radio one week later for Cris Macht and the whole Slice gang. See you then!
