Norton Goes Green

April 16, 2007 By Sam Sloan 2 Comments

edward_norton04.jpgSciFi Wire is reporting that Edward Norton will be starring in the new Incredible Hulk movie as the green guy himself, Bruce Banner.

Shooting on the film begins in two months and will last througout the Summer in Toronto, Canada.

Universal Pictures will distribute this Marvel Studios production with director Louis Leterrier (“Transporter 2,” “Unleashed”) aiming at a June 13, 2008 release date. Screenwriter Zak Penn (“X-Men,” “Fantastic Four”) is responsible for the script

The first film, considered by many scifi fans as not measuring up to the comic book’s quasi-heroe’s reputation, was helmed by famed director Ang Lee and starred Eric Bana as the Hulk. With Norton now playing Banner, it is hoped that this installment will remain true to the character’s comic roots and with Norton’s acting chops the film will get a real credibility boost. Norton was last seen in the critically acclaimed, box-office successful movie “The Illusionist.”

This film will begin with Banner on the run soon after his lab mishap, still trying to keep out of the clutches of the authorities and hoping to find a cure for his green Hulk-a-mania.

I actually didn’t mind Lee’s film. It had flaws, yes, but it was an interesting exercise in style and quite watchable.
Norton’s a good actor, so I hope this one will knock us out of the part.

I agree with you Bronzethumb. I found Lee’s film entertaining enough to keep me seated for two hours and Bana’s performance as Banner was adequate, but I am really looking forward to this one now that Norton will be in the lead. Ed is one helluva an actor and a real force of nature on the big screen.
