Paramount Pictures has acquired the film rights to the popular video game “Area 51” and has signed on comic book writer Grant Morrison (“Justice League of America,” “New X-Men” and “Fantastic Four”) to pen the screenplay.
Like the game, the movie will take place in the highly secret government facility in Nevada, popularly known as “Area 51” and logistically called “Groom Lake.”
The plot will center around a hazardous materials specialist who is called in to investigate a viral outbreak that is extra-terrestrial in origin.
Morrison is also responsible for New Line’s “WE3.”
