Reese Witherspoon is Missing

March 8, 2007 By Sam Sloan Leave a Comment

reesewitherspoonlegalblond.jpgAcademy Award winning actress Reese Witherspoon, the lead star and producer of the highly anticipated remake of “Bunny Lake Is Missing” is AWOL.

She has unexpectedly walked out of the production leaving director Joe Carnahan and Spyglass Pictures in a real bind.

With only five weeks until the scheduled shoot was to begin, the studio is now in a quandry to not only find an actress with the star power of Witherspoon to play the role vacated by Reese, but it also needs a new producer. Because Carnahan is committed to seeing this project through there is little doubt of the production not going forth but with significant delays in its schedule, making it a real headache for the studio’s front-office in realigning a release date and theatrical bookings.

This remake of the acclaimed 1965 Otto Preminger film is a suspense thriller about a mother who tells the police that her daughter, named Bunny Lake is missing. However, police and others soon begin to question if the daughter ever existed in the first place.

Some on the inside track are wondering if this disappearing act might have something to do with Witherspoon’s recent signing with CAA as her new agency, a move many other big-named talent have done over the last six months to give them more barginging leverage.
