Dial “C” For Comics, LLC and Atlantis Studios Announce “Return Of The Super Pimps” Issue #2
The word on the street is out — the Super Pimps are IN! With issue #1 sold out in comics shops across the country, Dial “C” For Comics is proud to announce the release of Return Of The Super Pimps #2 in the March Previews Catalog!
When we last left the Urban Revengers, the team had disbanded following a staggering loss in the 1970s. Today, with The Hood reduced to a lawless slum and the villainous Darquefire resurrected, Detective Jackson Maple races to track down his childhood heroes — the Super Pimps! But what ghosts from the past prevent Blackbeard from leading his team once more?
Writer/creator Richard A. Hamilton explains. “Issue #2 is where the story really starts moving — or strutting, if you will. Darquefire’s back, and he’s burning with a big-time grudge. Now it’s up to Detective Maple to bring Blackbeard, Foxy Mama, Homeboy, and Ghetto Blaster out of retirement before it’s too late for The Hood — and the world!
“Only there’s a catch: Blackbeardâ’s a widowed dad trying to make ends meet. The last thing he wants to do is dust off the old hat, cape, and platform shoes and ‘let his hair down,’ so to speak. But he still feels a responsibility to the streets and his former pupil, Sidekick. It’s a dilemma Blackbeard better resolve quickly, because Darquefire is cooking up a payback that is waaay bigger than anything he pulled in the Disco days!”
And it’s not just the story that’s heating up. Issue #2 also marks the debut of the new series inker, Rick Bonilla. “Rick’s done the impossible — he’s made issue #2 look even better than #1,” says Hamilton. “Rick has an amazingly clean, tight control over his inks that gels nicely with Ulises Carpintero’s phenomenal pencils, from the biggest explosion to the smallest facial expression. And let’s not forget our colorist, Jasen Smith. This guy’s work is so vivid, you almost have to keep it in a lead box!”
“I can’t even put into words how thrilled we are by the reader response. People are really digging this book, and we’re extremely grateful to the retailers who took a chance on our first issue. I hope they’ll feel even more confident about their issue #2 orders, but just to sweeten the deal, here are a few teases:
“In issue #2, you will thrill at the return to Pimps’ Lair! Cower at the sinister origin of Darquefire! And discover Whatever Happened To The Super Pimps? Be prepared for double the ACTION, double the DANGER, and double the STRUT!”
Return Of The Super Pimps #2 (of 6) is a full-color, full-length comicbook solicited in the March Previews and shipping in May with 24 pages of story and art and no ads. $2.99 US.
About Dial “C” for Comics, LLC
Growing up, Richard A. Hamilton always wanted to be a Superhero. When that didn’t work out, he decided to do the next best thing: write about Superheroes. Born and raised in Coral Gables, Florida, Richard graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Miami with a Bachelor of Science degree in Motion Pictures and Psychology and was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa (which is sort of like a Justice League for nerds). A fellow of the American Film Institute and an award-winning Screenwriter, Richard now lives with his wife in Los Feliz, California, where they try out new recipes and solve mysteries in their spare time. On February 10, 2006, Richard founded Dial “C” For Comics, LLC, to publish “Return Of The Super Pimps”, the first of many dream projects.
