DG Meets “The Tin Man”

February 16, 2007 By Sam Sloan Leave a Comment

zooey_deschanel.jpgalan-cumming.jpgZooey Deschanel (Bridge to Terabithia, Elf) has been cast in the lead role of “Tin Man,” The SCI FI Channel’s Robert Halmi-produced miniseries retelling of “The Wizard of Oz,” according to Variety. Deschanel will play the part of DG (a facsimilie of The Wizard of Oz’s Dorothy).

This will not be your Judy Garland Oz story as DG gets transported from her nomral mundane existence into the O.Z. aka ‘The Outer Zone’. The O.Z. is a fantasy-filled world that is being held in the grasp of the dark magical arts.

“The Tin Man” will feature the award winning actor Alan Cumming (X-Men 2) as the Scarecrow-like character known as Glitch.

The miniseries will debut on The SCI FI Channel this coming December, and will be a six-hour miniseries.

Deschanel will also be starring opposite Brad Pitt and Casey Affleck in the upcoming big screen flick “The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford.” The actress will take on her most ambitious big screen project to-date in her career as she portrays the legendary, but ill-fated rocker Janis Joplin in “The Gospel According to Janis” scheduled for release sometime in 2008.

[…] Apparently, there’s a retelling of Oz in miniseries form coming in December to the Sci Fi channel. Staring Zooey Dechanel as DG and Alan Cummings as the title role. I hope it’s a good one. Check out more at Slice of Scifi. […]
