NBC Universal has announed that it has an all-new digital cable network in the works. This new outlet will be entirely dedicated to the Horror/Suspense/Thriller genre.
“Chiller Network” will debut on March 1st of this year on DirecTV, with the peacock network currently negotiating with other cable providers to have it placed on their channel lineups, according to Variety.
NBC has a large stockpile of genre related programming in its vault and will use the Chiller Network to showcase them. Several years worth of the classic “Alfred Hitchcock Presents” are on tap, plus episodes of “Tales From the Crypt,” “Friday the 13th: The Series,” “Twin Peaks,” as well as full movie features such as Hitchcock’s original “Psycho,” “The Shining” with Jack Nicholson and the Freddy Krueger Nightmare flicks. NBC is also in negotiations with other studios offering them an outlet for reviving some of their horror genre-related offerings.
Look for expansion of this channel to all the major cable outlets before the close of 2007. Contact your local cable company and tell them to include the Chiller Network as part of their service.

Is this a sister channel to the Sleuth Channel that was added to DirecTV about 4-5 months ago?
Cool.

I love Sleuth. I didn’t realize how much I missed Homicide until I could see it again.

I was too young to get in to “The Rockford Files” when it originally aired, but I really enjoy the reruns on Sleuth. I seem to like everything I’ve seen James Garner in. I’m sure I’ll find plenty to watch on Chiller, too.
