(AP) — The U.S. Space Camp in Huntsville is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, and William Shatner, most famous for portraying Captain James T. Kirk of the Federation starship the U.S.S. Enterprise, is planning to attend the party.
“Shatner has agreed to be the emcee for the Space Camp Hall of Fame induction banquet in June,” said Larry Capps, CEO of the U.S. Space and Rocket Center.
The inaugural Hall of Fame event will honor 10 people who either attended Space Camp or have been major supporters of the Space Camp and Space Center, he said.
Also scheduled to be on hand for the event will be Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, comedian Jay Leno, astronauts Story Musgrave and Bob Springer and Army pilot Michael Durant, whose story was featured in the movie “Black Hawk Down”.
A committee is currently establishing criteria for selecting the first inductees. The exact date and location of the banquet will be announced later.

Anyone else actually go to space camp? I did. The experience was…mixed, but I’m glad I went.
My BF’s nephews went to Space Camp.
Being spoiled rotten rich kids, they thought it was “OK”.
I have cousins who would have given ANYthing to have had a chance to go.
Go figure.
Anyway, “Shat At Space Camp”?
LOL!!!
