George Lucas and Steven Spielberg have finalized the script, Harrison Ford is ready to go and the shooting schedule has been set to start in 2007. As a result, the tentative release date for “Indiana Jones 4” will be May 2008.
Lucas told reporters that “It’s going to be fantastic. It’s going to be the best one yet,” but wouldn’t reveal anything about the plot only saying it will mostly be a “character piece” that includes some “very interesting mysteries….I think it’s going to be really cool,” Lucas said.
The 64-year old Ford first played the character of Indiana Jones back in 1981 in “Raiders of the Lost Ark”. It was followed 3-years later with “Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom” and again in 1989 with “Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade” with Sean Connery portraying his father, Professor Henry Jones. Rumor is Connery will return to reprise the father role and this 4th, and probably final IJ film, will also see the return of John Rhys-Davies (LOTR Trilogy) who starred in two of the previous Jones films as Sallah. Lucas would not confirm or deny the rumors.
