Golden Globe winner Rick Schroder is joining the cast of Fox’s “24” once the new season revs up in January 2007.
Schroder became famous as a very young child actor, capturing the hearts of moviegoers in his remarkable portrayal of the emotionally torn 5-year old boy opposite Jon Voight in the big-screen movie “The Champ.” He went on to star in a TV sitcom and was considered to be forever typecast as that “cute little Ricky Schroder on Silver Spoons” until his break-out adult role as gritty Detective Danny Sorenson on ABC’s long-running hit cop show “NYPD Blue.”
After a short hiatus from television once he was finished with the series “Strong Medicine,” Rick has now signed on for a regular role on the “24” series, which will enter its sixth season next month. He’ll be playing CTU operative Mike Doyle, teaming with Jack Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland) to pull off key field operations.
Schroder joins a growing number of new cast members that include both Academy Award and Emmy winners and nominees such as Powers Boothe, James Cromwell, Peter MacNicol, Chad Lowe, as well as some other fine actors that include Regina King, Kal Penn and David Hunt.

Holy Cow! The cast of this show keeps getting better and better. I missed out on the fifth season and hopefully will be able to fly through the DVDs before season 6 starts, but I am really looking forward to 24 season 6!
