Tobey McGuire tells fans of the Spidey franchise that he may call it quits with his Peter Parker/Spiderman portrayal. His co-star Kirsten Dunst may be ready to leave the web-maker behind as well. She was recently overheard saying, concerning her role as Mary Jane Watson, “I’m not the type of actress who does movie after movie.”
“This might be a good place to stop, I am not tied contractually to anymore Spider-Man movies,” Maguire is quoted as saying in a World Entertainment News Network report. “I am not completely closed to the idea of another one if it made sense but I would say the odds were in favor of this being the last one.”
The new script for Star Trek: XI, the next major film in the 40-year old franchise is late. Screenwriters Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman were expected to have a draft finished and on J.J. Abrams’ desk in November, but that deadline has come and gone with no pages appearing.
“Well, [we] are in the midst of it and it’s in progress,” Abrams told TrekMovie.com. “The idea is to start shooting somewhere around [spring], otherwise we are not going to make the date [for release] that they [Paramount] have [projected].”
Abrams is still upbeat and unconcerned about the short delay and is confident the film will still be in theaters by the Summer of 2008, and might even personally prefer Winter 2008 as a possible big holiday release.
In related news, William Shatner says he now has no plans to make a cameo appearance in the movie.
