Eick’s Got “Them”

November 10, 2006 By S. K. Sloan 1 Comment

According to Variety, David Eick, the executive producer behind the hit scifi show Battlestar Galactica, will be adapting a graphic novel for TV about an alien invasion. The show will be called “Them,” not to be confused with the old 1954 SF/horror film of the same name.

Eick, along with screen-writers John McNamara (Lois & Clark:The New Adventures of Superman) and Jonathan Mostow (Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines) will take Michael Oeming and Daniel Berman’s graphic novel “Six” and turn it around into an hour-long weekly SF drama for Fox. That’s right! FOX! So, don’t hold your breath.

If, by some strange stretch of the imagination Fox does wise up and give this thing a chance, the storyline will center around a sleeper cell of ET terrorists. Who, similar to Eick’s Cylons, take on human form and begin to experience all the emotional angst that goes along with being a human being. The difference here is, human emotions do to these alien invaders what illicit drugs do to Earthlings. Agents from the alien planet are sent to Earth to round up these rogue terrorists, but in doing so, expose themselves to the same danger of becoming addicted to human emotions.

Sounds like an interesting concept, but again, we are talking about Fox Television here. We will keep an eye out on this one and bring further details when we have them.

Just saw ST-TOS episode “Catspaw” the other day. This brings to mind the sensuous rush that Sylvia was riding after taking on human form.
