Superheros Get Soapy

dt_gl_act_large_behlers_03.jpgAccording to The Hollywood Reporter, the long-running, multi Emmy-winning daytime soap opera “The Guiding Light” with introduce a plethora of superheros in its programming. This news comes on the wake of a new deal ironed out between Marvel Comics and CBS/Paramount Television Studios.

The characters will be seen in an episode that will first air on November 1st. In the episode Harley Davidson Cooper (Beth Ehlers), who will somehow be involved when a character is zapped by an electrical current and becomes infused with superpowers, including the ability to levitate and to conduct electricity – so says the tabloid.

Marvel has committed to producing an eight-page insert for some of its top comic titles that involves Marvel characters descending on the famous soap’s town of Springfield to determine whether the new superhero is friend or foe.

    I don’t know. GL has done some pretty bizzare things in the past. Two Reva’s, a ghost Reva, people rising from the dead, and so on…….so this is not that much of a stretch for them…and it must work – it is one of the longest running, award winning soaps in broadcasting, going back to the radio days.

    As the old saying goes – If it ain’t broke – don’t fix it. 🙂
