Batman’s Christopher Nolan makes his competition disappear with the entry of his latest big screen pic “The Presitige.”
In what is considered a no-fly zone for movie releases (from the end of October until the Holiday period at the end of the U.S. Thanksgiving), director Christopher Nolan – by amassing an engaging script, with three huge box office names, has proven there is still film magic to be had – even in October.
Beating out some serious competition from the likes of Martin Scorsese’s “The Departed” and Clint Eastwood’s WWII Iwo Jima flick “Flags of Our Fathers,” “The Prestige,” starring Christian Bale, Hugh Jackman and Sir Michael Caine brought in a very respectable $14.8 million on its opener, at a time normally reserved for filler flicks while Hollywood brass keep the big guns for the upcoming Holiday feeding frenzy.
