Another Cast Shakeup for “Jumper”

Another Cast Shakeup for “Jumper”

October 16, 2006 By Kyle Nin Leave a Comment

The cast for “Jumper” has been jumping all over the place. When first announced by 20th Century Fox, this SF feature had Tom Sturridge and Teresa Palmer (The Grudge 2) cast in the two leads. Since then we have been reporting add-ons and switches that have been occurring quite frequently.

rachel bilsonThe first was actually a nice bit of news when we reported soon after the successful release of “Snakes On A Plane,” that the film’s star, Samuel L. Jackson would be joining the cast of Jumper.

Soon after that Sturridge was dropped for Star Wars’ Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader – Hayden Christensen. On the heels of that announcement Jamie Bell was added to the cast.

Now in the latest game of guess who is gone and who is here, director Doug Linman has decided to drop female lead Teresa Palmer for “The OC’s” Rachel Bilson. Reason given? Linman reconceived the female lead as a 25 year old instead of a 20 year old. How much of a stretch is it for an actress to go from 20 to 25? Seems there is more molded bread in this pudding than is being revealed by Regency or 20th Century Fox.

Hey, get rid of whomever you want as long as Jackson stays in place for this big screen adaptation of the Steven Gould novel about a young man from a very dysfunctional home who has the ability to transport himself to any place or dimension on the planet.

Oh yeah, before I forget, the screenplay was originally adapted by “Batman Begins'” David Goyer, but has since been rewritten by Jim Uhls and Simon Kinberg.
