Well, not the actual Jesus, but actor James Caviezel – the guy who played Jesus in “The Passion of the Christ” will play a fellow from another planet who crash lands on planet Earth in the SF creature drama “Outlander.”

Being touted as a SF Epic by the Weinstein boys, who will be producing, and if price-tag indicates epic then at $40 million this one would rate that title. Once Caviezel crashes on Earth he is pursued by a alien predator called Moorwen, who just happened to be along for the ride. The Earth timeframe will make for an interesting backdrop to the story – Welcome to Vahalla – yep, he lands on Earth during the Viking age.

New Zealand’s Karl Urban was assumed to have been sought after for Caviezel’s role. There is no official word if Urban will still be attached to the project. He’d make a great Viking king.

Shooting is scheduled to begin on October 16th in beautiful Nova Scotia, and is set for a 2007 release.
