The Studio in Phoenix, Arizona is empty this week because we are coming to you LIVE from the floor of the convention center at the 2006 Dragon*Con in Atlanta, Georgia where Slice of SciFi’s Mike, Evo, Summer and Joe will bring you all the latest from this mega event. That’s right, this week’s show was recorded this past weekend (Sept. 1-4) while the gang were at Dragon*Con. Our special guest on this week’s show? Whoever they can hog-tie and lasso at the Con.
It will be a very exciting program because Dragon*Con is one of the largest attended scifi/fantasy conventions in the world that draws hundreds of celebrities and thousands of attendees every year.
From the News Desk, Summer will reveal there will definitely be more Spiderman after the third film is out next year, Leonard Nimoy may take the option of choosing who will replace him in the J.J. Abrams vision for the next Star Trek feature film and, if you think it is a pain for US audiences to have to wait for new Doctor Who, try living in the UK where the new episodes of Stargates SG1 and Atlantis won’t begin until October.
In Movie Talk the crew get the willys thinking about George Romero’s next zombie fest. And, on the small screen we break down all the new scifi and genre related shows coming on network television in the US and Canada this fall, with a brief synopsis and airdates for each.
Finally, we take a look into the future and try to piece together just what George Lucas meant when he said “We’re basically going to do The Phantom Menace,” as he was describing the thinking behind the new Indiana Jones: 4 script.
We guarantee a good time will be had by all so be sure to join us September 6th for Slice of SciFi Show #073.

Sadly, scifi doesn’t rate that well here in Australia. Threshold and Surface initially started screening at 7:30pm then got shuffled to 11pm-12am.
Invasion was heavily hyped then was never screened at all (here in Melbourne anyway).
Battlestar season 1 was on at 8:30pm now season 2 is on at 11pm.
Enterprise began at 7:30pm then was relocated to midnight, season 4 just started screening the other week.
As for SG-1, again 11pm. We’re halfway through season 9, hopefully Atlantis season 2 will screen after that.
Doctor Who happily screens at 7:30pm every saturday and we just saw episode 8 of season 2, ah bliss!

I was at the live episode and found it very enjoyable. It was interesting seeing what goes on behind the scenes. Unfortunately, I understand the live feed wasn’t working.
It was good to meet the people behind the voices I listen to. Good work, everyone!
