FUSE and Fangoria Roll Out the Black Carpet

August 31, 2006 By Sam Sloan Leave a Comment

hand.gifThe FUSE Network is quickly becoming MTV’s biggest competitor in the cable music business, and is beginning to branch out into other areas of entertainment, just as MTV has done over the last several years.

FUSE will be bringing its first annual “FUSE Fangoria Chainsaw Awards” to its network on October 22, 2006 at 9:30 PM ET in a 2 1/2 hour televised ceremony spotlighting those films of the 2005-2006 season that raised everyone’s fright meter to new levels of shear terror.

The actual event will take place at the Los Angeles Orpheum Theater on October 15th, be tapped and shown one week later on the music network. They will have a long black carpet rolled out for the ceremony with guests interviewed ala red carpet style. Wonder if Joan and Melissa will be there to showcase the fashions? They would fit right in, no makeup required.

The categories for the award event will be quite bizzare with Samuel L. Jackson going up against King Kong in the “Dude You Don’t Wanna Mess With” category. There will also be “The Highest Body Count,” “Creepiest Kid” and “Sickest Video” categories, as well as many more.

The film with the highest nominations so far is “Hostel” with “Snakes On A Plane,” the new version of “The Hills Have Eyes” and “Underworld: Evolution” tied for a very close second.
