Samuel L. Jackson On Slice of SciFi – August 16, 2006

August 10, 2006 By Sam Sloan 12 Comments

On August 16, 2006 the Slice of SciFi Podcast and XM-Satellite Radio Show will have actor Samuel L. Jackson as our very special guest star.

samueljackson05120Sam will talk about his latest New Line Cinema film feature, SNAKES ON A PLANE, which gets a nationwide release on August 18, 2006.

Show host and author Michael R. Mennenga shared a panel with Sam at this year’s recent Comic Con in San Diego, CA, and the award nominated/winning actor sat down with Mike and others at a round table for this exclusive interview.

Samuel L. Jackson has had an illustrious career that has spanned 34 years, starring in such landmark films as Spike Lee’s “Do the Right Thing,” Quentin Tarantino’s “Pulp Fiction” and “Jackie Brown,” Lucas’ Star Wars franchise, and his stunning performance in “A Time To Kill.” He has over 107 film and TV performances to his credit, and believe it or not, Sam was Bill Cosby’s stand-in for four years on “The Cosby Show” back in the mid 1980’s. His talent also extends behind the camera acting as producer to four successful ventures, including the critically acclaimed “Eve’s Bayou.”

The great Samuel L. Jackson – our guest on the Slice of SciFi Show #071 – ready for download on August 16, 2006 and will be followed up on XM-Satellite’s Sonic Theater Channel 163 after the movie’s premiere.

I’m afraid for SoaP. I’m afraid because I think we’re all expecting action cheese with rubber snakes and over the top acting. And I’m afraid that the studio made a serious movie that isn’t over the top at all. I just… I want us to get the movie we want, and I don’t know if that’s what’s in store.

Hey, I don’t care two shits it it’s serious, tongue-in-cheek, laid-back, outrageous, drama, comedy or whatever…..What I do know is it has Samuel L. Jackson in it, which makes it good no matter.

Snakes is going to suck, I saw a preview , and its rotten to the core… who cares who is in it… its total shite

I agree with the comments of Snakes is NOT SCI FI, and from the previews I have seen, its NOT the movie for me. Some people like slasher films too, which I think are rubbish. I guess each to their own. But I cant see what all the hype is about, it looks like rubbish!

As it was mentioned on the last Slice, this could be the next cult classic, like “Rocky Horror”. It’s not necessarily whether the movie is good or bad, it’s whether the fans can get behind it or not. Sorry, but for me, “Rocky Horror” sucks as a movie. It’s not until the fans get involved that it becomes great. SoaP could be the exact same way. Or, it could be a really great movie on its own. Only time will tell.

One thing is certainly for sure: I’ll be there opening day.

Sam did several interviews and roundtables that day. The one in the video is one of those, and our’s with Mike and others tossing questions at Jackson was another.
