“Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest” recaptures first place over “Miami Vice” in just three days since the Farrell/Fox project came out of the bay.
The Johnny Depp pirate flick has dominated the box office since it was released three weeks ago, but slid into second place after this past weekend’s debut of the big screen adaptation of the 1980’s television hit “Miami Vice.”
However, it didn’t take audiences too long to tire of the fast-paced cop movie and flock back into Depp’s corner of the high seas. Today, Pirates easily slipped its skiff into the 1st place dock putting Vice in a second place position. See the August 3rd B.O. stats below.
Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest (Buena Vista) – $2,549,037 for a total of $366,387,380 since opening three weeks ago.
Miami Vice (Universal) $2,401,695 with total of $33,955,980 since this past weekend.

Finally saw it last night: it was awesome! Can’t wait for #3.
I finally saw it last night as well. Definitely a great flick. Glad it’s knocked Miami Vice back down.
