Author Scott Sigler’s “Ancestor” Needs a Home and you can help

July 28, 2006 By S. K. Sloan 3 Comments

Put Ancestor on The SciFi Channel!

Writer Scott Sigler (Earthcore, Infection Podcast, [Ancestor – Audio]) is the creator of innovative novels, short stories and screenplays. His work revolves around modern science’s dichotomy of simultaneously producing good and evil.

For you who have listened to the Ancestor podcast, your response has been “I loved the Ancestor podcast, and I want to see the Ancestors in a movie!” For those who haven’t had the pleasure of doing so, I urge you to give it a listen and tell us if you don’t agree.

Well, the team at Slice of SciFi agrees with you. It deserves screen treatment, and literally thousands of people just like you are also in agreement.

A Little History

The SciFi Channel did consider Ancestor for a “creature feature.” A production company named Pliny Minor pitched SciFi for the movie. Pliny loved it, took a full Ancestor treatment to SciFi, but after several turnarounds the network backed away from it. NBC Universal’s SciFi Channel is a great network, but their choice in movies is usually those with monsters “they don’t have to explain to the audience.”

What Can You Do?

If you want to see the Ancestors dismembering people, if you want to see Magnus Paglione, if you want to see Pastie and Clayton, Sara and Colding, then email SciFi and tell them – “WE WANT TO SEE SCOTT SIGLER’S ANCESTOR ON The SCIFI CHANNEL!”

But hey gang- please BE NICE! These folks have their business model, and they are following what they think will make them money. Tell them why you want Ancestor, and why you think it will be the biggest Original SciFi Channel movie they have ever seen.

Visit Scott’s Website to learn more about him, his work and how you can help bring his critically acclaimed Ancestor to a small (or big) screen near you.

Hmmm… I hate to say it, but I don’t think SciFi is the right place for this. I think this is much more of an HBO or Showtime mini-series. Maybe the audience is a little smaller on a movie channel, but the budget would go up, and Scott’s dialogue can go forth… unedited.

Zach could be right about this, but the email has been sent!
