In a move that has caught nearly everyone in the entertainment industry by surprise, J.J. Abrams is walking away from his established homebase of operations at Touchstone Television. He now has a new home over at Warner Bros. TV and a new very lucrative six-year deal to go along with the move.
On top of that, his production company, Bad Robot Productions has entered a five-year film deal with Paramount Pictures, which includes his deal to do the next STAR TREK franchise big screen feature. This deal was known about, but the Warner Bros. pact came like a shot out of the dark to everyone not secretly involved with the covert deal.
What does this mean for such huge hits as “LOST?” Even though the hit ABC show is a Touchstone vehicle it will not suffer as Abrams, under a separate agreement with the media conglomerate has agreed to stay on as the show’s executive producer. He will also stay onboard as the chief figure behind ABC’s “What About Brian” and the new drama due out this fall called “Six Degrees.”
Wow! Talk about having your cake and eating it too. Good for you J.J.!

That is an interesting development to say the least.
