The spasodic and extremely funny girl Amy Sedaris will be joining the familiar cast of Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy and Cameron Diaz in the next installment of the green ogre called “Shrek the Third.”
Set for release on May 18, 2007, Sedaris will lend her unusual voice stylings to Cinderella, who will be heading up an elite, ninja-like strike force of fairy tale princesses. Joining her will be Amy Poehler as Snow White, and two other Saturday Night Live alum, Maya Rudolph as Rapunzel and Cheri Oteri as Sleeping Beauty. This group of martial arts ladies is organized by Princess Fiona to fend off a coup d’etat by Prince Charming (Rupert Everett) in the land of Far, Far Away.
Another two show biz giants joining the hit animated franchise will be Ian McShane (Deadwood) as Captain Hook and John Cleese’s Monty Python partner of nearly 40 years, Eric Idle as Merlin the magician.
The film’s main roles again will again be voiced by Mike Myers (Shrek), Cameron Diaz (Princess Fiona), Eddie Murphy (Donkey) and Antonio Banderas (Puss in Boots). Diaz’s real-life boyfriend, singer Justin Timberlake, will voice King Arthur (Artie). Also joining the cast is John Krasinski (The Office) as knight Sir Lancelot.
“Shrek the Third” finds the green ogre and Princess Fiona happily married, but becoming the next King and Queen of Far, Far Away wasn’t in the couple’s plans. When his father-in-law, King Harold (John Cleese), falls ill, it is up to Shrek to find a suitable heir or he and Fiona will be forced to give up their beloved swamp for the throne. Recruiting Donkey and Puss for a new quest, Shrek sets out to bring back the rightful heir to the throne, Fiona’s rebellious cousin Artie.
Back in Far, Far Away, Fiona’s jilted Prince Charming storms the city with an army of fairy tale villains to seize the throne. But they have a surprise in store because Fiona, together with her mother, Queen Lillian (Julie Andrews), has drafted her fellow fairy tale heroines to defend their “happily ever afters.” As Shrek, Donkey and Puss work on changing Artie from a royal pain into a future king, Fiona and her band of princesses must stop Prince Charming to ensure that there will be a kingdom left for him to rule.
Besides “Shrek the Third” many of the stars have other projects out now or soon to be released. You can see Sedaris now starrring as Jerri Blank in “Strangers With Candy,” which is currently playing in New York and Los Angeles with national release due soon. Poehler stars in the upcoming “Blades of Glory,” with Will Ferrell and Jon Heder; Rudolph is onscreen now in Robert Altman’s “A Prairie Home Companion,” and Oteri is in the upcoming animated comedy “The Ant Bully.” McShane will co-star with Rene Zellweger in the upcoming supernatural thriller “Case 39.” Banderas is getting ready to film “Homeland Security” and Murphy is currently filming “Norbit.” Diaz will be in the soon to be released romantic comedy “The Holiday.” Finally, Mike Myers will portray the legendary rocker Keith Moon in the bio pic “See Me Feel Me: Keith Moon Naked for Your Pleasure.”

Man Im starting to go with Billy West….where are the actual voice actors? Yes “normal” actors can do voices, but jeez. Hell a movie could save a buck or two by hiring someone like billy West, who could can do many different characters. BAh! [/rant]

But Billy West’s name doesn’t pull much weight with the general viewing public as, say, the cast of Shrek.

yeah that is true…but it would be nice to hear the great voice actors out there, besides just in shows like Futurama.
