Slice of SciFi #62: Voicemail Show

June 22, 2006 By Summer Brooks 7 Comments

This show is for you! We’re receiving so much voicemail and email feedback commentary that it just won’t fit in one show anymore. But that’s okay… Keep it coming!

Should the voicemail show come before the new show for the week, or should the show order stay the way it is?

  • Doug Kress comments on the order of the shows
  • Bob from UK says there’s no science in Stargate
  • Dani in NC also hasn’t seen Titanic, and seconds the recommendation for “Broken Saints”
  • Christine from MI on the Stargates, and she loves Labyrinth
  • SFX Guy on the technicalities between visual effects and special effects
  • Michael from Illinois on Kevin Spacey in Superman Returns
  • comment on alternatives to wrassling on SciFi Channel
  • another listener thinks whoever approved ECW on SciFi Channel should be taken out to the woodshed and punished
  • Paul from Des Moines chimes in on ECW on SciFi, and the potential crossover of the fans
  • Paul from Des Moines also has another suggestion for SciFi Channel as an alternative to ECW
  • Julio wants to know why iTunes isn’t downloading his Slice of SciFi
  • Dave from NE Browncoats with the newest updates on the June 23, 2006 Serenity Charity screenings (49 screenings so far)
  • Tony from MN has questions about the Bad Wolf in Doctor Who
  • Brad from Podculture wants opinions on Billie Piper leaving Doctor Who
  • Jason in KC with BSG comments
  • James in Dallas on being a Deadpan co-host
  • Emil in NY suggests The Lake House. Evo grows a rash just thinking about it
  • Rapid Eye in NC with many comments
  • Jeff in Lancaster on XMen 3
  • Thomas from Flagstaff is being mind-controlled by all of our shows
  • another disgruntled SciFi Channel viewer with ECW comments
  • Darryl from Austin loved the SoSF Pool Party Voicemail Show
  • comment on ECW being part of the bottom line

There can be only one. What the world really needs now is another crappy Highlander movie.

That unrelated thought brought to you by brainfudge.

Early, late, as long as I am entertained, I’m happy.

I’m positive that the two guys who were railing against the ECW thing (and I think it was the same guy) really thought they were calling the Sci-Fi channel. Something about the way they phrased their comments makes it sound like they were talking TO the channel itself.

If you put “scifi” into Google, you guys are the second thing that pops up after the Scifi Channel. Maybe they just got confused. 🙂

Tried that Sarah. Slice is (or was at the time of my trial) the 4th entry under “scifi” on Google.

Dani in NC, thanks for seconding my “Broken Saints” recommendation! The “Enhanced DVDs” were released in Canada about a year ago (as a Future Shop exclusive). The DVDs have voice actors performing the dialogue, but you need to read the captions in the web version. I found the DVDs much easier to watch. BS is the only thing that I’ve seen that blurs the comics-vs-animation line….

Dudes! Car Wars! Thanks for the memories. This is probably better on “Cover to Cover” but you guys remember the short story that started it all? “Why Johhny Can’t Speed” by Alan Dean Foster. Yee haw!
