A BBC series called “Hex” premiered on BBC America June 8th. Feels like a Buffy-style series, just loaded with British goth and snark, and focused on magic, witches and fallen angels.
See this Horror Channel article:
Seems like BBC UK canceled the series back in December, but it’s got enough die-hard fans that they’re trying to bring it back. Sounds like a “Surface” kind of deal. I can’t tell if both seasons exist on R2 DVD, or if just Season 1 is out there.

well thats weird, in the UK the series appeared on Sky One and not on any of the BBC’s channels. I watched a couple but gave up due to the truly atrocious acting..

Hmm. Cancelled? That sucks. I watched both seasons of the show after they “mysteriously” appeared on my hard drive. It’s a pretty cool show. Gotta say though, because of the romance aspect, it probably appeals to women more than guys.

I watched the first half of the two hour episode last night. I’ll probably finish it tonight (it’s on my DVR). It wasn’t bad, but the acting isn’t the best in the world, either. I’ll give it a shot, but remember: it’s been cancelled! I’m hoping to enjoy it, but I don’t need to get hooked on another show that is going to leave me with a cliffhanger ending.

I just assumed it was a BBC show, since BBC America was airing it. The ads for it looked very intriguing, and it’s sitting on my TiVo, waiting for me to find time to watch it.

Oh, it also looks like there’s a fan swell of support in the UK, asking to bring the show back, just like a bunch of us have done for cancelled shows here 🙂

I have already seen both seasons of the series and although the arcing is a little lacking in season 2 It’s generally a fantasitc series. Especcially when you consider they had much fewer episodes to build a season then US TV.
I think the cast is great. The writing of the plot is where I generally find any issues.
The series features many strong female characters, has probably one of the most three dimentional lesbian characters on tv, has decent enough special effects and a cast with good chemistry.
Series 2 is where things get a little off in large part because of the loss of a season one regular who choose not to return for the full second season (and no I won’t say who – that would be spoiling). I am guessing that caused a heck of a lot of re-writting and makes season 2 feel more like a re-set then a continuation.
It is worth the support and considering the lack of any real U.S. Sci-fi/fantasy and the finale of Dr. Who airing this week in the states I would urge people to give this supernatural thriller a try.
Thanks for giving it some props Summer. And heck let’s find out from the UK folk how to help it get a season three because we know the US ain’t making stuff like this very often anymore might as well help other creators of such material keep creating. I woudl think a decent enough American showing for the series could urge SkyOne to bring it back.

oh one more thing – for those of you who tivod and haven’t watched yet. Turn off your tivo before the preview. BBC America pretty much lays out the ENTIRE rest of season one in the preview that airs at the end of the episode and TRUST me you don’t want to be spoiled on some of those moments.

I just watched the first episode. It was incredibly funny. I’ll give the show a try and I must urge others to do that too. It looks good, but, yes, the acting is a little off, but it won’t do for anyone to just view it like that. The lesbian bit is funny, mind you. And if you’re an American, try to make sure you understand the dialect before getting into it. You may find yourself a bit lost.
All in all, the show is incredibly good and I can’t wait for the next part. Too bad the show was seemingly cancelled.
