April 24, 2006 By S. K. Sloan 7 Comments

TVGuide.com is taking a poll of fans to see who they would like to see play the younger version of James Tiberius Kirk in the J.J. Abrams STAR TREK:XI feature film.

The top contenders are Josh Duhamel (Win a Date with Tad Hamilton), Scott Speedman (Evolution: Underworld), Brandon Routh (Superman Returns), Hayden Christensen (Star Wars Episodes II & III), Jon Heder (Napolean Dynamite) Shawn Ashmore (X-Men), Jesse Bradford (Happy Endings), and Nick Stahl (Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines, Carnivale). As of this printing Josh Duhamel was in the lead.

Personally, I’m rooting for the girl who played Keira in Riddick 2. It’s star trek so anything is possible.

You’ve got a point there. Afterall, Starbuck and Boomer are now girls and one is even a Cylon, so your right, it’s scifi — anything can happen………N O T!

Hayden?!? Didn’t he already trash one SF franchise. Please let’s not have him play Kirk.

And not the guy who was Napolean Dynomite either….

    Ugh…that is scary.

Please not Scott Speedman! There has to be a better choice out there than any of these guys.

    “What’s that you’re drawing, Kirkolean?”

    “It’s a Klingulan.”

    “What’s a Klingulan?”

“Pretty much my favorite alien. It’s a cross between a Klingon and a Romulan.”

    “Oh…”

Now there’s a scene I want to see in the movie. I’m pulling for ya, Jon Heder!
