Academy Award winning actor Nicolas Cage may have passed on playing the Man of Steel in the upcoming “Superman Returns” but that doesn’t mean he isn’t keeping busy.
Cage has started filming in Los Angeles, cine scifi thriller “Next” adapted from the Philip K. Dick story entitled “The Golden Man.”
Cage plays Cris Johnson, a man with the ability to not only see future events but change their outcome. He is pursued by the FBI and others so they can use him to manipulate the future to their advantage, while the only thing on Johnson’s mind is saving the woman he loves.
At this time Cage has ten films either just announced or at various stages in the production process, including “Ghost Rider,” a look at 9/11 from the perspective of two port authority policemen, “World Trade Center,” and the highly anticipated “Wicker Man” about a sheriff investigating the disappearance of a young girl from a small island in which he discovers there’s a larger mystery to solve among the island’s secretive, neo-pagan community.
“Next” is due to hit theaters sometime in 2007 and will co-star Julianne Moore and Jessica Biel.
