British author Philip Reeve has written an as yet unpublished Victorian era scifi space fantasy called “Larklight” and Warner Bros. has wasted no time in scarfing up the movie rights and will be bringing Reeve’s imaginative creation to the big screen.
Centered on a pair of siblings who get caught up with a marauding band of space pirates that are placed into the unlikely position of becoming the world’s saviors from the hands of a madman. Denise De Novi (Catwoman) has been called on to produce and Alison Greenspan will be executive producer.
“Larklight,” the novel, is part of a trilogy of stories and is set for a Fall 2006 publication through the Bloomsbury Publishing Company.
No word yet when film production will begin, but one can assume it won’t be until after the book is released.
