An announcement came out of Cannes on Thursday that comes as no shock but is sure to make many happy. The CBC has joined with the BBC as co-producers of the new Doctor Who spinoff “Torchwood” starring John Barrowman as Captain Jack.

Canada’s CBC has already been a partner with the BBC in both of the seasons of Doctor Who. Both programs have Russell T. Davies as the senior script boss and are shot on location in Wales and other parts of England, Ireland and Scotland.
