In a recent interview with SciFi Wire, writer-producer Russell T.Davies (Doctor Who) stated that filming for the 13-episodes of Torchwood, the Doctor Who spinoff, will begin in May on location in England. Davies will pull double-duty, writing and producing both Doctor Who and Torchwood simultaneously.
While it is recognized that the Doctor Who series is geared for family viewing, Torchwood will definitely be for adults only. The new show will have actor John Barrowman reprise the role he made famous in the five episodes of Doctor Who he appeared in opposite Christopher Eccleston. Barrowman plays Captain Jack Harkness, a 53rd Century con artist and the first openly bisexual character portrayed in the famous serial.
Expectations are high that Torchwood (an anagram for Doctor Who) will be very successful with its adult audience since the five episodes of Doctor Who that the character was in registered some of the Doctor’s highest ratings last year.

Let’s just pray that we get to see it here in the States, intact.
I’m still not happy about the whole commercials thing with Sci-Fi’s broadcast of Doctor Who…but hey…Snakes on a Plane. Nothing can be done.
