“Babylon 5” Verse Ends On Less Than Stellar Note

March 10, 2006 By S. K. Sloan 3 Comments

“Babylon 5: The Legend of the Rangers – To Live and Die in Starlight” will make its way to DVD on March 14, 2006. This will be the final Babylon production scheduled for DVD release.

Sad to say that this one will prove to be a bit disappointing, but still sorry that it will be the last B5 DVD for the foreseeable future. I would have preferred the B5 verse to end on a higher note of quality. It was, and in my mind, is still one of the best scifi television shows ever created.

I want to say that I agree with you when you say: “It was, and in my mind, is still one of the best scifi television shows ever created.”

It truly was a fantastic series, and the B5 verse was one I could completely relate to. The characters, the plot, the actors, the production, all was top notch. It’s sad to see it end here, but I’ll keep the light on anyway. Just in case.

It’s strange- my intro to B5, what got me hooked, was in the beginning which I picked up nearly 10 years ago on a total whim. I now own all the DVDs, most of the novels, and I listen to the wonderful podcast.

In the beginning aside though, the movies were pretty poor. This one in particular stank worse than a pak’ma’ra…

I agree that TLaDiS wasn’t the best of B5 there was, but come on! It was a *pilot* for a potential Sci-Fi Channel series.

Did we learn nothing from the series itself? If you only had “The Gathering” to go by, would you still declare B5 “one of the best scifi television shows ever created”?

I saw lots of potential for great stories, along with some minor missteps. I would have loved to see more. And I already have the DVD on preorder at Amazon.
