“The Unit” is a new CBS mid-season replacement that isn’t scifi or genre but I wanted to mention it to you because it stars one of my favorite scifi actors Robert Patrick (X-Files, Terminator 2). Other cast members include Dennis Haysbert (24), Scott Foley (Scrubs), Audrey Marie Anderson (Point Pleasant) and Demore Barns (Relic Hunter).
The story centers around an elite special forces team and the classified missions they are sent on to keep democracy alive and America safe. The military action is skillfully blended with homefront family backstories in the style of “LOST.”
The program can boast the writing and executive producing genius of David Mamet (Spartan, Hannibal) and Shawn Ryan (The Shield).
“The Unit” can be seen on CBS on Tuesday nights at 9PM ET. The series made its pilot debut on March 7th.
I saw this show and liked it. Dennis Haysbert does a good job as a team leader. Though it was done well, I can already see myself fast forwarding through the family drama bits like I did with Over There.
