Semper Fi SMI

March 4, 2006 By S. K. Sloan 3 Comments

Starfleet Marines International (SMI) is a STAR TREK fan club especially for Marines now serving their country and ex-Marines who have served in the past.

While many SMI members also belong to a variety of other fan clubs, such as “Starfleet” or “The Federation,” SMI provides a consistent ‘umbrella’ for Marine activity in all clubs.

Members of SMI have access to Marines from across the globe. They receive a quarterly newsletter called ‘Passing the Word,’ Academy updates, technical manuals and much more are also available.

The SMI Marine Academy is composed of twenty courses in seven colleges ranging from the Basics, Leadership, Marine Occupational Specialty (MOS), Aerospace Flight, Special Programs, the Advanced Program and topics dealing with Marine History.

The mission of Corps members is to follow Starfleet and Federation directives, acting to preserve the peace and uphold Federation Law.

Regardless if the call is for putting down a violent insurrection, eliminating interstellar terrorists, or simply providing a temporary peacekeeping force for a government in need, the Starfleet Marines are ready and up to the task.

To learn more about the club or to obtain an application just click on STARFLEET MARINES INTERNATIONAL… Semper fi!

    Sir–

Thank you for article above. It was nice move on information concerning our club. As a club SMI has been doing this since 1992.

This is a wonderful submission and I thank the Author for his/her kind words. As Adjutant General (fancy title for Club Secretary) and Life Member of SMI this article has made me feel honored. However, there is one minor correction, though we have many retired Marines in SMI, we are currently recruiting active Marines.

Sadly, SMI is a shell of its former self — a dinosaur stumbling on the way to its own extinction. Small minds, small fan club.

The bigger and better Star Trek Marine fanclub is the Starfleet Marine Corps. A component of “Starfleet: The International Star Trek Fan Association”, the Starfleet Marine Corps (SFMC) has hundreds of members in hundreds of chapters across the entire planet. Check them out at http://www.sfi-sfmc.org.
