When I think of freak, David Cross is one of the first people that always comes to mind. Evidently Comedy Central is of a like-mind because the cable network has asked him for seven episodes of his “Freak Show,” an animated series about a motley crew of freak show performers who moonlight as superheros.
The Freak Squad is comprised of do-gooder wannabes’ who just can’t seem to measure up to full superhero status, but they won’t let the minor fact of their second-rate abilities stop them from fighting off crime and mayhem. Most of the bad guys they encounter are villain wannabes’ also.
Look for the series to begin either later this year or early 2007 on Comedy Central.

So, it’s an animated version of a Ben Stiller film with the added “twist” of a freak show? I’ll pass, thanks.
Yeah, this is just a rip-off of “Mystery Men”!
If you want something funny and cutting-edge, watch “Drawn Together”. You’ll be laughing yourself off the couch!
