ABC is not depending on iTunes for its digital content. Starting later this year the network will begin showing its programming on the web using their own online website. Viewers will be able to go to abc.com and download their favorite shows for viewing from their computers or video pods and viewers.
Disney CEO Bob Iger (Disney owns ABC and ESPN) stated that the Net service, christened, MyABC has digital possiblilites for ABC, ESPN and Disney. Iger was skimpy on the particulars at this juncture, but the service will be free so viewers will have to contend with ads, as they do with traditional TV viewing.

I wrote a Newsvine article about this very thing.

Sorry, many of you might not be able to get to that link. I believe Newsvine is still beta.
Wow! I think this is great. These downloads should be free AND legal. I don’t care about the commercials. I can scrub those

But will it be avaliable to people from overseas???
That’s the question!!!

I wholeheartedly agree and was ranting on this very subject earlier today. It makes NO darn sense that a program I could record on my VCR is illegal for me to download via Bit Torrent, or whatever. The programming is free, so why shouldn’t I be able to watch it through any avenue that can provide it ?
Aside from the fact that the studios want to sell me the season box set for $40 to $100. But that’s another story. *smirk*

I’m drawing a blank here. What’s on ABC worth watching?
Sam says
Let’s see Fred,
I can think of three right off the top of my head:
LOST
Boston Legal
Alias

It took an act of will for me to watch the first five ep’s of Lost, just not for me. Never saw Boston Legal, so I can’t say. Alias, well what can one say. Show reminds me of Le Femme Nikita, great promise but in the end to caught up in its own unresolved mythology.

Strike three! ABC is out! I watch none of the above, nor will I ever care to.
