George Takei, best known for his role of Mr. Sulu in STAR TREK, will be honored with the Legacy Award by the Asian American Journalistic Association (AAJA) for his pioneering work in the entertainment industry that has helped bridge the gap between Asian and American culture.
The gala event will be held on March 11, 2006 at the prestigious The Fairmount Hotel in Dallas, Texas.
Also being honored will be Lou Diamond Phillips (The Triangle) for his ongoing fight to get reparations for Filipino veterans of World War II.
The Legacy Awards is the third major community event held by AAJA as part of its two-year, $2M Endowment Campaign, aimed at raising funds for its diversity programs on behalf of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders.
