New Orleans Casting Call: “Deja Vu”

January 16, 2006 By S. K. Sloan 10 Comments

A few months ago we reported on the Slice of SciFi podcast that Bruckheimer would be helming a new scifi project. What we didn’t know until now was if he would get his first pick shooting location. Well, he has!

Hundreds of actors, bit players and just ordinary folk showed up for the casting call to Jerry Bruckheimer’s new scifi thriller “Deja Vu” starring Oscar winning superstar Denzel Washington.

New Orleans? Yes the very same New Orleans ravaged by Hurricane Katrina and the outskirts of Hurricane Rita just a few short months ago, and where only one-third of its previous population now reside. Bruckheimer is one of the first from Hollywood to step into the area bringing his crew and staff hoping his small effort will help to revitalize the area again as an on-location shooting site.

‘Deja Vu’ is about a time traveling FBI Agent on the tail of a murderer played by Jim Caviezel.

In a recent telephone interview Alex Schott, Director of the Louisana govenor’s Office of Film and Television production stated, “It’s an important project, everyone will be watching and waiting to see how production goes.”

    Tony,

Principal photography has already begun on location in New Orleans as of yesterday. All the main characters are in place.

I do not know the status of background actors for periphery shots but you can get this information from Touchtone Pictures at http://disney.go.com

I’m really excited about the movie. I think you guys should shoot a scene at MAX high school located on magazine street. It is one of the best high schools in the city of New Orleans. I’ll be anxiously waiting for the movie to hit theaters.

I WILL REALLY APPRECIATE IT IF I WAS PICKED FOR THE FILM. I WALKED THROUGH THE HURRICANE WATER FILLED WITH GASOLINE,DEAD PEOPLE, DEAD ANIMALS,RATS, ROACHES AND JUST ABOUT EVERYTHING YOU CAN IMAGINE.I AM A HURRICANE KATRINA VICTIM BUT I LOVE NEW ORLEANS CITY ANYWAY I WAS BORN AND RAISED THERE AND NOTHING BUT DEATH CAN KEEP ME FROM THAT CITY. SO IF YOU ARE NOT DONE CASTING I’M STILL AVAILABLE

I REALLY HOPE THE FILM DOES WELL!
